چکیده
Background: Malaria, caused by the genus Plasmodium, is still a global health problem. Its transmission and spread are strongly influenced presence of Anopheles vector. One efforts to reduce cases distribution long-lasting insecticide-treated nets residents malaria-endemic areas. This study aims measure density mosquitoes perched on bed after three years usage. Method: A cross-sectional was conducted observe perching at night calculation mosquito data in units mosquitoes/LLINs/hour. Results: The number bites before bedtime respondents reached 72.5%, while infested with 74.4%. varied between 1 10 mosquitoes/LLINs/hour highest proportion 3 Conclusion: LLINs that have been used for were found be less effective killing preventing mosquitoes. It advisable re-dip insecticide doses match local vector susceptibility level officer assistance so function properly

متن کاملMalaria in Dielmo, a Senegal village: Is its elimination possible after seven years of implementation of long-lasting insecticide-treated nets?
BACKGROUND The malaria burden has decreased significantly in recent years in Africa through the widespread use of artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) and long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs). However, the occurrence of malaria resurgences, the loss of immunity of exposed populations constitute among other factors, serious concerns about the future of malaria elimination efforts...
متن کاملNet risk: a risk assessment of long-lasting insecticide bed nets used for malaria management.
Despite the demonstrated ability of bed nets that have been factory-impregnated with long-lasting insecticides (LLINs) to protect people from malaria and despite the ambitious plans for their widespread use, the health risks from the LLINs themselves have not been adequately investigated and reported in the peer-reviewed science literature. Here, we use a probabilistic risk assessment approach ...
متن کاملCost and cost effectiveness of long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets - a model-based analysis
BACKGROUND The World Health Organization recommends that national malaria programmes universally distribute long-lasting insecticide-treated bed nets (LLINs). LLINs provide effective insecticide protection for at least three years while conventional nets must be retreated every 6-12 months. LLINs may also promise longer physical durability (lifespan), but at a higher unit price. No prospective ...
متن کاملLong-lasting treated mosquito nets: a breakthrough in malaria prevention.
Editor – Regardless of views expressed recently in the Bulletin (1–2), insecticide-treated mosquito nets are currently the only viable option to prevent malaria transmission in large parts of Africa. To be effective, mosquito nets have to be treated by dipping them in suitable insecticides at least once a year. Less than 5% of the nets currently used in Africa are properly treated or retreated....
